Hutchinson Public Library Celebrates Summer Reading Success with Wind-Down Party

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The Hutchinson Public Library will host a Summer Wind-Down Party on Friday, Aug. 1, from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. to celebrate participants in this year's Summer Reading Challenge.
The library's "Color Our World" summer reading program ran from June 1 through July 31, encouraging readers of all ages to log their reading time through the Beanstack app to earn prizes.
The celebration will honor 7th- through 12th-grade participants who took part in the Young Adult Reading Challenge. Those who attended are invited to bring a friend and join library staff for games, snacks and prizes, according to a library social media post.
Participants could earn rewards by reading and logging their time throughout the summer. When a child logs 10 hours of reading on the Beanstack App, they can earn prizes including gate admission for the Kansas State Fair, a youth pass for Exploration Place, and more, according to previous program details.
The summer program offered activities for multiple age groups, with separate tracks for youth, young adults and adults. Paper logs were available at the library upon request for those who preferred not to use the digital platform.
The Hutchinson Public Library, located at 901 N. Main St., has served the community since 1901. The library's mission is to meet the reading, learning, and information needs of patrons throughout Hutchinson and surrounding Reno County communities.
Interested participants were asked to RSVP for the wind-down party through a provided link.
