Hutchinson Community College celebrates 15 years of science center innovation

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Hutchinson Community College is marking a major milestone this fall as the Richard E. Smith Science Center celebrates 15 years of cutting-edge education.
The facility opened its doors in 2010, transforming science education at the college with 40,000 square feet of state-of-the-art laboratory space, according to a post on the college's Facebook page Saturday.
Students now have access to advanced labs in biology, chemistry, microbiology, anatomy, organic chemistry and the physical sciences — resources that have dramatically expanded opportunities for hands-on learning.

The science center represents a remarkable evolution of the Kopke Science Hall legacy, which began serving students in the 1960s.
"Blue Dragon Blast from the Past - This fall we celebrate 15 years of innovation," the college announced in its social media post.
Hutchinson Community College is located at 1300 N. Plum St. More information is available at hutchcc.edu or by calling (620) 665-3500.
