HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Hutchinson Community College sophomore Kordell Gouldsby was named NJCAA Special Teams Player of the Week on Wednesday, Oct. 22, after becoming the first Blue Dragon with two punt return touchdowns in the same game since 2023.

Gouldsby, from Tulsa, Oklahoma, accounted for 161 all-purpose yards in No. 1 Hutchinson's 71-12 victory over Independence on Saturday at Gowans Stadium.

He returned four punts for an average of 11.8 yards, including touchdowns of 34 and 56 yards. Combined with an 84-yard kickoff return for a touchdown against Dodge City the previous week, Gouldsby now has three scoring returns this season and five in his career.

Gouldsby also had two receptions for 37 yards and one rush for six yards against the Pirates.

He is the first Blue Dragon to earn NJCAA national weekly honors this season and the first since Waymond Jordan Jr. on Nov. 13, 2024.

The sophomore is averaging 16.6 yards per punt return on 12 attempts with two touchdowns and 29.2 yards per kickoff return on 11 attempts with one touchdown this season.

Hutchinson plays No. 10 Coffeyville at 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 25, at Gowans Stadium.
