The Food Bank of Reno County has closed on a new facility at 921 E. Fourth Ave. in Hutchinson, the organization announced Oct. 15.

The food bank will spend the coming months converting the empty space into a functional facility designed to serve thousands of community members.

The Food Bank of Reno County works to address food insecurity by collecting, storing and distributing food to individuals and families in need throughout the county. The organization partners with local grocers, retailers, farmers and donors to rescue surplus food that would otherwise go to waste.

The food bank operates as a central distribution hub, supplying food to partner agencies including emergency food pantries, soup kitchens and shelter programs across Reno County. These partner organizations then provide direct services to residents facing hunger.

In addition to emergency food assistance, food banks typically offer nutrition education programs and connect clients with additional social services and resources to help address the root causes of food insecurity.

The new location sits at the intersection of Fourth Avenue and Severance Street in Hutchinson. The expanded facility will allow the organization to increase its capacity to serve the community's growing needs.

The organization is accepting donations to support the buildout efforts through its website at foodbankofrenocounty.org/campaign.

The Food Bank of Reno County is located at 700 N. Walnut in Hutchinson and can be reached at 620-727-3341 or foodbank@foodbankofrenocounty.org.
