Zoo Keeper's Photography of Roadrunner Wins First Place at Kansas State Fair

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — A Hutchinson Zoo bird keeper has captured first place in the photography contest at the Kansas State Fair with her stunning portrait of Raspberry, the zoo's beloved roadrunner.
Molly Foster, who works as a bird keeper at the Hutchinson Zoo, entered her photograph in the newly created Kansas Zoos category at this year's state fair photography exhibition. Her black-and-white image of Raspberry earned both first place and a champion ribbon.
"I couldn't be more thrilled and grateful," Foster said. "I can't wait to go see it in person and take a look at all of the other amazing zoo photos people have entered."
The winning photograph showcases Raspberry in striking detail, capturing the distinctive features and personality of the roadrunner.
Foster, described by zoo officials as "an amazing photographer," regularly documents the animals in her care. Her victory marks a significant achievement in the fair's expanded photography categories.
The Hutchinson Zoo announced Foster's win on social media Sept. 6, praising both her photographic skills and dedication to animal care. The zoo's gift shop will also offer postcards featuring the champion image.
