YMCA to host 6th annual Cancer Survivor Retreat in Wichita

WICHITA, Kan. — The YMCA will host its sixth annual Cancer Survivor Retreat on Thursday, May 7, offering a free day of fellowship, education and activities for cancer survivors across the region.

The event runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at YMCA Camp Hiawatha & Retreat Center, 1601 W. 51st St. N. A light lunch will be provided. Attendance is free, but registration is required by April 27 at ymcawichita.org/survivor-retreat.

The retreat is open to any cancer survivor. Prior involvement in the LIVESTRONG at the YMCA program is not required to attend.

This year's programming will focus on strengthening physical, cognitive and emotional health. Featured speakers include Dr. Catelin Kass, PT, DPT, CLT, who will present on building resilience through physical, cognitive and emotional health, and Dr. Matt Bridgman, Ph.D., ABPP, who will address the effects of cancer on memory.

The event is sponsored by BlueCross BlueShield of Kansas.
