City agrees to provide electric service to Udall

WINFIELD, Kan. — The Winfield City Commission unanimously approved an agreement Monday to provide electric distribution service to the nearby city of Udall. City Manager Taggart Wall said the distribution service agreement between the Kansas Power Pool and Winfield will facilitate the delivery of energy across city lines. The commission adopted the measure as a resolution without debate.


City power plant to receive new cooling fans

WINFIELD, Kan. — The Winfield City Commission authorized a proposal Monday to replace four cooling tower fan blades at the city power plant. The commission unanimously directed city staff to execute a professional services agreement with Sys-Kool to complete the necessary utility infrastructure replacements.


Unbudgeted truck purchased for code enforcement

WINFIELD, Kan. — Despite not being included in the 2026 budget, the Winfield City Commission unanimously approved the $28,990 purchase of a compact pickup truck for the city's code enforcement division on Monday. City Manager Taggart Wall presented the vehicle alongside a broader municipal equipment package, which commissioners passed to assist with the department's operations.


Commission greenlights major equipment purchases for city departments

WINFIELD, Kan. — Winfield city commissioners authorized a slate of budgeted equipment purchases totaling more than $475,000 for various municipal departments during Monday's meeting. The approved expenditures include a $286,839 dump truck for the street department, a $48,654 pickup truck for electric distribution, a $44,842 pickup and $27,925 utility vehicle for the city lake and five mowers costing $13,506 each.

WINFIELD, Kan. — Floor repairs are coming to the city fleet service center shop following unanimous approval by the city commission on Monday. Commissioners authorized an agreement with a concrete-coatings contractor to provide professional services for the facility's floor rehabilitation.


Neighbors speak out as city addresses nuisance property on East 17th Avenue

WINFIELD, Kan. — Following complaints from neighboring residents, the Winfield City Commission unanimously approved a resolution Monday allowing the city to abate nuisances at 601 E. 17th Ave. A neighboring resident from 607 E. 17th Ave. and a neighboring resident from 602 E. 17th Ave. addressed the commission regarding the property's condition before commissioners authorized the official cleanup action.
