Varsity Girls Softball Splits Doubleheader Tuesday

MCPHERSON, Kan. — The McPherson varsity girls softball team split a pair of games Tuesday, run-ruling Emporia 15-0 in four innings at home before dropping a 12-2 road contest at Derby in five innings.

In the opener at McPherson-Grant Sports Complex, the Bullpups pounded out 14 hits, led by K. Huggard's 3-for-3 day with a triple and two RBIs, while R. Whitfield went 1-for-4 with a home run and three RBIs. A. Schroeder earned the win from the circle, tossing four innings of one-hit shutout ball with three strikeouts.

At Derby, the Bullpups managed just two hits — a solo home run by A. Gross accounting for one of their two runs — as C. Pavlovich took the loss, allowing 10 runs on seven hits in three innings from the circle.
