UPS driver dies in train collision in eastern Reno County

RENO COUNTY, Kan. — A UPS delivery driver died Tuesday afternoon, Dec. 16, after a train struck the driver's truck at a railroad crossing in eastern Reno County, authorities said.

Deputies from the Reno County Sheriff's Office responded to the collision at Blanchard and Woodberry roads at approximately 3:09 p.m., along with Burrton Fire and EMS, Reno County EMS and Kansas Highway Patrol.

First responders found the UPS delivery truck with heavy damage. The driver was removed from the vehicle, and emergency personnel began life-saving measures. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said.

Two BNSF Railway employees aboard the train were not injured in the crash.

The incident remains under investigation. Authorities said additional information will be released as it becomes available.
