Trail dedication honors Hutchinson cycling advocate Bob Helfrich

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — A memorial trail honoring local cycling advocate Bob Helfrich will be dedicated the evening of Friday, Nov. 7, in north Hutchinson, marking a tribute to a figure who championed biking infrastructure in the central Kansas community.

The Bad Bobby Memorial Trail dedication is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. at 39th and Plum streets, according to a Facebook event organized by the Bad Bobby Trail Updates Page. The ceremony will be followed by a gathering at Salt City Brewing.

The trail represents efforts to expand recreational infrastructure in the city of approximately 40,000 residents. Hutchinson has developed multiple trail systems in recent years as part of broader community efforts to promote outdoor recreation and alternative transportation options.

The dedication ceremony is expected to be brief before attendees move to the nearby brewery for an informal reception.
