TOPEKA, Kan. — The Topeka Social Service Grants Committee unanimously approved $491,904 in revised grant allocations during its July 24 meeting. The recommendations, prepared in partnership with the United Way of Kaw Valley, will distribute the available funds for the 2027 calendar year to various local organizations. Major applicants involved in this funding cycle include the Shawnee County Medical Society Health Access, which was eligible for a maximum grant amount of $50,000, Positive Connections, eligible for up to $35,000, and the Topeka LULAC Senior Center. The allocations now advance to the Topeka Governing Body for final approval, subject to ongoing appropriations by both the city and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
