Committee approves $1.38 million Red Bud pump station replacement

TOPEKA, Kan. — The Topeka Public Infrastructure Committee unanimously approved a $1.38 million replacement of the Red Bud pump station in a 3-0 vote during its June 16 meeting. Committee members David Banks, Sylvia Ortiz and Michelle Hoferer supported the measure. Located at the north end of Fairlawn Road near Cedar Crest, the aging station was identified for replacement under the city's small pump station master plan. Utilities staff noted the cash-funded project includes a strict eight-month construction timeline to ensure the system effectively continues moving sewage across Interstate 70.
