School Board

MCPHERSON, Kan. – The McPherson Unified School District 418 Board of Education will hold a work session on Monday, June 29, 2026, where the board is scheduled to select a Construction Manager at Risk (CMAR) to partner with the district on future facility projects. This decision follows a series of interviews conducted by the USD 418 Facility Committee on June 24. The agenda for the 5:30 p.m. meeting, which will be live-streamed on YouTube, also includes a discussion of logistics for an upcoming board retreat. The meeting will begin with the Pledge of Allegiance and a vote to approve the agenda.

County

The McPherson County Commission will consider a letter of support for a federal grant to combat substance use disorders and receive updates on two public works projects during its meeting on Monday, June 29. The board is scheduled to review a letter supporting Prairie View, Inc.'s application for the Rural Communities Opioid Response Program (RCORP), which would establish a network to improve prevention and treatment services in the region. The commission will also hear from Public Works Director David Bohnenblust, who will provide updates on the work being done on the fuel island at the County Yard and on the Bridge #235210 project located at the Maxwell Wildlife Refuge.

City

The McPherson Planning Commission will consider a new Casey's General Store, zoning updates to allow for more housing options, and the creation of a new zoning district for public facilities at its meeting on Tuesday. The commission will review the preliminary and final plat for a subdivision, as well as a site plan for a new Casey's General Store. Also on the agenda is a proposed ordinance update spurred by state senate bill 418 that would permit Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs) and townhomes in all residential districts and reduce the minimum lot size for new residential developments to 3,000 square feet. The commission will also conduct a preliminary review of a proposal to create a new "Public Facilities & Institutions" zoning district.
