HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The Strataca Kansas Underground Salt Museum will illuminate the holiday season with its annual Season of Lights event, running from Nov. 28, 2025, through Jan. 4, 2026.

The event transforms the unique underground venue into a festive display celebrating the holiday season. Located 650 feet below ground in a working salt mine, Strataca offers visitors a distinctive setting for seasonal attractions.

The museum, which provides year-round tours of its historic salt mining operations, adds special programming during the holiday period. Visitors can explore the subterranean salt formations while enjoying decorative lighting installations throughout the facility.

Strataca operates as both an active mining site and a tourism destination, showcasing the region's salt mining heritage that dates back to the 1920s. The facility includes exhibits on mining history, geological formations and the role of salt in industry and daily life.

Tickets for the Season of Lights event and general admission information are available through the museum's website. The venue is located in Hutchinson.

The museum offers educational programs, group tours and membership options throughout the year. Additional details about hours of operation and special events can be found on the Strataca website or by contacting the facility directly.
