South Hutchinson Plans 25th Annual Holiday UTV Ride for Charity

SOUTH HUTCHINSON, Kan. – The City of South Hutchinson will host its 25th annual "Light Up the Holidays" UTV ride on Nov. 22, featuring a police-escorted route through the community to collect food and toys for local families in need.

The event will begin at 5 p.m. with lineup at the Community Center located at 101 W. Ave. C, with the ride starting at 6 p.m. Participants are encouraged to decorate their utility terrain vehicles for the holiday season, with prizes awarded for the best decorated UTV.

Last year's drive collected 100 toys for distribution to local families, according to a city social media post. Organizers hope to make this year's event "the biggest and best one yet" as the milestone 25th anniversary approaches.

The ride follows a designated route around South Hutchinson with police escort to ensure safety for participants and other motorists. The event combines community fellowship with charitable giving during the holiday season.

"We are hoping to make the 25th drive this year, the biggest and best one yet with your help," city officials wrote in announcing the event.

South Hutchinson, located in Reno County, has a population of approximately 2,700 residents. The UTV ride has become an annual tradition that brings together community members while supporting local charitable efforts during the holidays.

Participants should bring non-perishable food items and unwrapped toys to contribute to the drive. More information about the event is available through the City of South Hutchinson.
