MCPHERSON, KS — McPherson Police Chief Mikel Golden and his wife Tina, serving as ambassadors for Sheep Dog Impact Assistance, hosted a "Get Off The Couch" event at the department's shooting range Saturday morning, bringing together veterans, first responders, retirees, and civilian supporters for a day of marksmanship and camaraderie. The event, supported by SDIA volunteer Audrey C. and other McPherson Police Department volunteers, featured friendly competitions in distance shooting, accuracy, and timed challenges designed to engage participants in meaningful outdoor activities.

Sheep Dog Impact Assistance, a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping veterans and first responders find healing and purpose, uses outdoor adventures like the shooting event to foster connections among those who have served. The organization also connects participants with WarriorPATHH, a 90-day program focused on post-traumatic growth, and empowers them to engage in disaster response missions within their communities. "Thank you to all who came out," the department stated, emphasizing the importance of providing ongoing support and engagement opportunities for those who have dedicated their lives to serving others.
