Sign up freeSalina Downtown Inc. announced Monday in a Facebook post that its annual Holiday Open House will return Sunday, Nov. 8.
The post said, “SAVE THE DATE - NOV. 8th - #salinadowntown Holiday Open House!” and included the hashtags #celebratelocal and #supportlocal. It didn't include event hours, a schedule, or the number of participating businesses.
Salina Downtown, an accredited Main Street organization, lists Leslie Bishop as its executive director. “The fourth quarter is critically important to our downtown businesses,” Bishop said. “Many small businesses rely on the holiday-shopping surge for their annual survival and long-term stability. For every $100 spent at a local independent business, roughly $48 to $68 stays in the local economy and continues circulating, compared with approximately $13 to $43 spent at national chains or online.” A 2023 KSAL report said participating stores were open from noon to 5 p.m. that year, but those hours have not been confirmed for 2026. Bishop did not provide previous attendance, foot-traffic or sales figures.
“A great place to find updates about the Holiday Open House and all our events is our website, salinadowntown.org,” Bishop said. Readers also can check Salina Downtown’s Facebook page and Instagram or call its office at 785-825-0535 with questions.
