Riley County Volleyball comes from behind to defeat Nemaha Central
SENECA, Kan. — Riley County's volleyball team rallied from a first-set deficit Saturday to earn a 2-1 victory over Nemaha Central, continuing the Falcons' recent success on the court.
The match finished with set scores of 21-25, 25-19, 25-18, as Riley County bounced back after dropping the opening set to win the final two frames convincingly.
"Riley County had a slow start but a hot finish," according to MaxPreps. The Falcons improved to 25-17 on the season with the victory, their third win in the last four matches.
Ada Bishop led the Falcons' effort with 14 assists and seven digs, marking the most digs Bishop has recorded over her last ten matches. Her performance was instrumental in Riley County's ability to maintain momentum through the second and third sets.
The victory gave Riley County a measure of revenge on Nemaha Central, whom they had defeated in their previous matchup. The rematch Saturday confirmed Riley County's superiority on the court as the two teams meet again this season.
For Nemaha Central, the loss marked their third consecutive defeat at home, dropping their record to 20-19. The Thunder's recent struggles at home have proven costly as they attempt to salvage their season heading into the final stretch.
Riley County wasted little time returning to competition. The Falcons faced Silver Lake on Oct. 25 in their next match, falling to the Lakers in a 2-1 decision in that contest.
The Falcons will look to bounce back from the Silver Lake setback as they continue their quest for a winning season. With 25 victories already on the board, Riley County appears well-positioned for a successful finish to the regular season.
