Reno County Annex to Close Friday Afternoon for Former Treasurer's Funeral

HUTCHINSON — The Reno County Annex will close Friday afternoon to allow staff to attend funeral services for former County Treasurer Brenda Kowitz.
The annex at 125 W. First Avenue will be closed to walk-in traffic from 11:45 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sept. 26, county officials announced Sunday.
Several county offices will be affected by the closure, including the Register of Deeds Office, the Treasurer's Office, Tag and Taxes, and the County Clerk Office/Elections. The Appraiser's Office will remain available by phone at 620-694-2915 during the closure.
"We will stop all tag and title transactions at 11:45 a.m. and resume them at 3:00 p.m.," said Treasurer Richele Calvert.
Kowitz served as a long-time public servant in Reno County before her passing.
"We appreciate the public's understanding as we join the community in honoring Brenda's many years of dedicated service," said Michelle Updegrove, Reno County Register of Deeds.
Normal business operations will resume at 3 p.m. at the Reno County Annex following the services.
The closure reflects the county's commitment to honoring employees who have served the community, officials said.
