Hutch fire department responds to garage fire

At 1:40 p.m. on May 25, 2025 the Hutchinson Fire Department responded to the 728 East 6th for a report of a structure fire. First arriving fire crews found a well involved detached garage on fire that was threatening the residence. Arriving crews made a quick attack on the garage and home and kept the fire in the garage.
The house was occupied at the time of the fire and no injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation. The garage sustained heavy damage, and the home is still habitable.
