Local business going on the road
May 27, 2025

Axe It Up, 110 West 2nd, Hutchinson, opened in August of 2022. In 2.5 years, they've hosted more than 150 private weekday events and hundreds of weekend birthday parties—some kids even celebrating their third birthday in a row at the venue with many private groups coming back time and again.
"When we opened Axe It Up in August 2022, we never imagined just how much fun we’d have—or how many friendships we’d form along the way," owners Zach and Ashley Carson said via Facebook. "We've had an ABSOLUTE blast teaching our community how to throw axes, knives, ninja stars, batarangs, and even paint!"
In April, the building that they utilized for Axe It Up was sold.
"When we received the proposed lease, we took time to reflect, talk with our family, and consult financial advisors to figure out what’s next," they said. "And so, with peace in our hearts, we’re announcing that at the end of June 2025, the Axe It Up Hutch venue will be closing."
However, the team are taking the show on the road. Their Axe It Up On The Go will continue—and is adding a mobile paint splatter experience too. They will also be hosting a going away party in a sense on June 20 with two live bands. The sale of the items from the business will happen in July.
"We know this may come as a surprise and maybe even bring some sadness. But we hope you’ll join us in celebrating this next chapter," they said. "For over 2.5 years, we’ve juggled running the venue with full-time jobs, and while we have loved this adventure, it’s time for us to reclaim our weekends and enjoy more family time. We will stay plenty busy with the trailer events."
