HIGHLAND, Kan. — Top-ranked Hutchinson Community College extended its winning streak to 13 games with a 49-7 victory over Highland on Saturday, Nov. 15, clinching at least a share of the Jayhawk Conference championship.

The Blue Dragons (9-0, 5-0 Jayhawk Conference) controlled the game from start to finish at Porter Family Stadium, scoring on eight of 14 possessions while holding Highland to just 110 total yards.

Hutchinson can claim the conference title outright with a victory next week against Garden City in the regular-season finale. Coffeyville finished its conference schedule at 5-1.

Backup quarterback Hudson Ferralez led the offensive effort, completing 11 of 16 passes for 123 yards and one touchdown while rushing for 49 yards and another score. Starting quarterback Christian Johnson added a highlight-reel 9-yard touchdown run in the first quarter, leaping over several defenders into the end zone.

Freshman Kade Smith paced the ground game with 53 yards and two touchdowns on seven carries. The Blue Dragons rushed for a season-high 253 yards and controlled possession for more than 36 minutes.

Sophomore L.T. Robinson caught five passes for 65 yards to lead the receiving corps, while freshman Jibari Harris hauled in his first career touchdown reception, a 16-yard strike from Ferralez.

The defense dominated, limiting Highland to minus-2 yards rushing and forcing the Scotties to go 0 for 12 on third-down conversions. Tavion Robinson recorded a safety on a fourth-quarter quarterback sack and also recovered a fumble.

Hutchinson has now won 25 consecutive road games under coach Drew Dallas, improving to 27-1 in true road contests during his tenure.
