Newton launches America250 yard decorating contest ahead of Rockets & Rails
Residents invited to show off patriotic displays for nation's 250th birthday
NEWTON — Newton residents have until June 26 to enter their homes in the city's America250 yard decorating contest, competing for a prize package to celebrate the nation's 250th birthday. Volunteer judges will evaluate the submitted online photos of the outdoor spaces based on creativity, patriotic impact and community spirit, with bonus points awarded for Newton-inspired designs. The winner will be recognized at a future City Commission meeting and during the July 3 Rockets & Rails festivities at Athletic Park, a community gathering that brings a major Fourth of July fireworks celebration back to the city for the first time in over a decade.
