Newton alters trash pickup schedule ahead of Independence Day

NEWTON, Kan. — Newton residents will need to roll their trash bins to the curb a day early this week as the city adjusts its collection schedule for the Independence Day holiday. According to the city, because municipal offices will close Friday, July 3, 2026, in observance of the holiday, Thursday's regular collection route moves to Wednesday, July 1, and Friday's route moves to Thursday, July 2. The city asks residents to have bins at the curb before 7 a.m. on their rescheduled collection day to ensure service.
