TURON, Kan. — Reno County officials will host an open house Dec. 6 to showcase the newly completed District #7 Fire Station in Turon, marking a significant expansion of emergency services in the rural community.

The facility is now operational and represents a key investment in public safety infrastructure for county residents, according to a Facebook announcement from Reno County government Friday, Nov. 21.

The public is invited to tour the station from 4-6 p.m., meet District #7 firefighters and personnel, and enjoy complimentary chili and cinnamon rolls during the event.

County officials described the new station as an "important milestone in improving emergency services" for residents in the Turon area and surrounding communities.

The completion of District #7 follows ongoing efforts by Reno County to enhance fire protection and emergency response capabilities across its jurisdiction, which covers approximately 1,272 square miles in south-central Kansas.

Turon, located about 30 miles west of Hutchinson, is an unincorporated community in the western portion of Reno County with a population of several hundred residents.

Details about the station's construction timeline, cost and specific capabilities were not immediately available. County officials encouraged residents to attend the open house to learn more about the facility and its role in community safety.
