Multiple Arrests Made in Manhattan Area Over Weekend

MANHATTAN, Kan. — Riley County police made multiple arrests over the weekend on charges ranging from probation violations to theft and driving violations, according to daily reports released by the department.

Arthur Mickey Jr., 36, of Manhattan, was arrested Sept. 16 at approximately 10:04 a.m. at 105 Courthouse Plaza in Manhattan on a Geary County District Court warrant for probation violation. Mickey was issued no bond and was no longer confined at the Riley County Jail at the time of the report.

On Sept. 15, John Swartz, 54, of Manhattan, was arrested at approximately 4:28 p.m. in the 1000 block of Seth Child Road on a Pottawatomie County District Court warrant for failure to appear. Swartz was issued no bond and was no longer confined in the Riley County Jail at the time of the report.

Maurice McGee, 45, of Ogden, was arrested Sept. 12 at approximately 4:48 p.m. in the 1000 block of Seth Child Road on a Hinds County (Miss.) District Court warrant on the uniform criminal extradition act. McGee was issued no bond and remained confined in the Riley County Jail at the time of the report.

Traffic Incidents

Officers responded to an injury accident near the intersection of Main Street and Madison Road in Riley on Sept. 12 at approximately 12:18 p.m. A 2012 Chevrolet Traverse driven by Lesa Heiman, 34, of Riley, struck a 2024 Ford F-250 driven by Miguel Mercado-Soto, 35, of Clay Center. Heiman was transported to Via Christi for treatment of her injuries and was issued a citation for failure to yield right of way at a stop sign.

Criminal Reports

Officers filed a report for aggravated criminal sodomy and sexual battery in Manhattan on Sept. 12 at approximately 10:27 a.m. An 18-year-old man was listed as the victim and a 28-year-old man known to him was listed as the suspect. Due to the nature of the crime reported, no additional information will be released.

The Riley County Police Department collects report information during 24-hour periods from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 a.m., with weekend reports collected from Friday at 6:00 a.m. to Monday at 6:00 a.m. Some names, addresses and case details are withheld to follow local, state and federal laws and to protect community members from being victimized further.
