Moran Marks Three Ribbon Cuttings, Healthcare Groundbreaking in Salina

SALINA, Kan. — Sen. Jerry Moran participated in three ceremonies in Salina on Thursday, beginning with the ribbon cutting for SkyWest Airlines' new Overnight Maintenance Base at the Salina Regional Airport. The base is expected to add jobs in the region and support SkyWest fleet operations. SkyWest CEO Chip Childs, Salina Airport Authority Executive Director Pieter Miller, Salina City Manager Jacob Wood, Saline County Economic Development Director Mitch Robinson and state Sen. Scott Hill attended. Later that afternoon, Moran helped break ground on Salina Family Healthcare's new community center. Moran said he secured more than $3 million in federal resources for the health center to support construction of a clinical education facility and training programs aimed at strengthening Kansas' rural healthcare workforce.

Moran also attended the ribbon cutting for General Atomics Aeronautical Systems' new Salina facility, part of the company's expanded presence in Kansas. General Atomics previously gifted $10 million to Kansas State University Salina's Aerospace and Technology Campus for a new Aerospace Innovation Ramp in October 2022. General Atomics President David Alexander, Salina Site Manager Craig Bronson, Salina Mayor Mike Hoppock and U.S. Rep. Tracey Mann attended. During his Salina visit, Moran also sat for an interview with Sacred Heart High School student Mason Brown for a high school English project.
