MMS Girls Tennis Closes Regular Season with Dominant Win Over Haysville

The McPherson Middle School girls tennis team capped their regular season in impressive fashion, defeating Haysville 9-1 in their final dual match before heading into the league tournament. Head coach Henry Weiner was pleased with his team's comprehensive performance across both singles and doubles competition, with standout efforts from several players leading the way. Gwen Prieb continued her exceptional season at No. 1 singles with a 6-0 victory. Hattie Krug demonstrated characteristic toughness by battling through a sore wrist for another 6-0 win, while Brielle Rothrock's calculating style and Farah Britting's powerful serve continued to overwhelm opponents.

The doubles competition showcased the team's depth and chemistry, with Audrey Pflughoeft and Sloan Shober delivering a commanding 6-0 performance that highlighted their years of partnership. "It has been a joy to coach this team this fall, and I look forward to seeing how we finish at the league tournament on Tuesday," Weiner said. Other notable performances included Charley Duerksen's comeback from a slow start to win 6-1, Pflughoeft's mental toughness in adjusting her game during a tough 6-4 singles victory, and the strong net play from the doubles team of Lyla Rageth and Aly Rausch in their 6-0 win. The Bullpups will now turn their attention to the league tournament, where they hope to build on the momentum from their dominant regular season finale.
