MMS Bullpups Dominate Haysville West in Tennis Dual
McPherson sweeps singles competition, wins 17-2 in commanding road victory
Under perfect tennis conditions the McPherson Middle School girls tennis team delivered a dominant performance against Haysville West, cruising to a 17-2 victory Thursday at Haysville West Middle School.
"It was great to see the improvement from the beginning of the season," said the McPherson Head Coach Henry Weiner. "Our players were up to the challenge against some tough competition."
The doubles competition featured the day's most thrilling matches. The duo of Brielle Rothrock and Farah Britting found themselves in an early hole against Haysville West's top doubles team, falling behind 0-2. But the McPherson pair showed their resilience, rattling off six consecutive games to secure a 6-2 victory in impressive fashion.
Similarly, Audrey Pflughoeft and Sloan Shober controlled their doubles match from start to finish, winning convincingly 6-1 with what their coach described as "strong tennis" throughout.
McPherson's singles lineup proved unstoppable, sweeping all 13 individual matches. Leading the charge was Gwen Prieb, who blanked Nova Lint 6-0, while several other Bullpups posted dominant victories. Hattie Krug, Brielle Rothrock, Audrey Pflughoeft, and Lauren Southern all recorded 6-0 shutouts in their respective matches.
The comprehensive victory highlighted the program's growth and depth as the season enters its final weeks. With strong performances across the board, the Bullpups appear well-positioned for continued success.
"I look forward to seeing how everyone performs throughout the last couple weeks of the season," Head Coach Henry Weiner added.
