MMS 7th Grade Bullpups Open Season with Sweep of Arkansas City
A and B teams both start 1-0, led by strong serving and teamwork
McPherson Middle School's 7th grade volleyball teams opened their season with a pair of straight-set wins at home over Arkansas City.
The A team won 25-3, 25-18, jumping out to an early lead thanks to a 22-point service run from Ella Riemann. The Bullpups worked well together throughout the match and showed resilience in the second set, battling back after falling behind. Coach Ally Lusk pointed to strong net play from the front row as a highlight, with the team looking to keep building at practice this week.
The B team also opened with a sweep, winning 25-10, 25-9. Coach Lauren Labertew praised the team's focus, communication, and hustle from the start, along with a strong night serving across the board.
Both teams begin the season 1-0. The 7th grade Bullpups are back in action Monday, Aug. 31, hosting a triangular against Haysville West and Circle. The A team will play at MMS while the B team competes at the Community Building, with both matches starting at 4:30 and 6:30.
