Meggers elected mayor as Hutchinson City Council welcomes new member

HUTCHINSON — The City Council welcomed new leadership Tuesday night, Jan. 6, as Scott Meggers was elected mayor and officials swore in a new councilmember to begin 2026.

Meggers, who represents the Northeast District, was selected as mayor, while Greg Fast, representing the Southwest District, was chosen as vice mayor.

Darrin Truan officially began his term as at-large councilmember during the meeting.

The council also recognized outgoing Councilmember Jon Richardson, who served since 2022. Officials thanked Richardson for his dedication and commitment to the community as his term concluded.

The current council includes Meggers, Fast, Stacy Goss representing the Northwest District, Steve Garza representing the Southeast District and Truan in the at-large seat.
