McPherson Youth Fitness Program Announces Schedule Changes for Fall 2025

FYR Mac-Town Adapts Programming to Better Serve County's Young Athletes

McPherson Youth Fitness Program Announces Schedule Changes for Fall 2025

McPherson, Kansas – The popular FYR Mac-Town youth fitness program is implementing significant changes to its schedule and operations beginning September 2nd, 2025, as announced by program coordinator Meaghan Victoria Reamy this week.

The Forging Youth Resilience (FYR) Mac-Town program, which serves 50-80 children throughout the school year at Mac-Town Fitness Company, will shift to a condensed weekday schedule to better accommodate families and participants. Starting this fall, kids classes will run only on Mondays and Tuesdays from 4:15-5:00pm, while the teen program (6th grade through 18 years old) will maintain its 6:30-7:30pm time slot on the same days.

"The 2025-2026 school year is rapidly approaching and we're gearing up for another great school year in McPherson County," Reamy explained in the Facebook announcement. "In order to continue serving all of our current and future athletes, please take note of these following changes."

Key Changes Include:

  • Reduced Weekdays: Kids classes now limited to Mondays and Tuesdays only (previously Monday-Thursday)
  • New Saturday Option: A Saturday kids class will launch at 9am beginning September 6th
  • Maintained Teen Schedule: Teen programming continues with same class days and times
  • Extended Saturday Access: Teens are welcome to join the Saturday 9am sessions as well
  • Continued Free Access: The program remains completely free for all participants ages 8-18

The program, housed at 715 W. Woodside Street, continues its partnership with the national Forging Youth Resilience organization, whose mission is to "empower young people to build physical and mental strength for life by providing access to a network of community-based fitness programs and mentorship."

Each session includes a daily mental health check-in, games, warm-up activities, and age-appropriate fitness programming designed to help young people associate exercise with fun and improved mental wellness. The teen athletics component focuses on strength and conditioning with scalable workouts to prevent overuse injuries common in year-round sports.

"Our program focuses on providing access to exercise to all children regardless of socio-economic situation," according to the program's mission statement. "We strive to provide a place they can learn and grow in a positive, safe environment."

The program continues to provide healthy snack options for kids and teens at the end of each session, and maintains its commitment to serving the McPherson County community free of charge.

Parents and teens interested in getting involved or learning more about the program changes can contact Meaghan Reamy directly through the Mac-Town Fitness Company or visit their website at mactownfitnesscompany.com. The program encourages participants to bring friends as they continue building a supportive community focused on youth development through fitness and mentorship.
