McPherson Soccer Cruises to 6-0 Victory Over Winfield Behind Valadez Hat Trick
Bullpups dominate on both ends; JV battles to 1-1 draw
The McPherson varsity soccer team delivered a dominant performance Tuesday night, routing Winfield 6-0 behind a hat trick from Yahir Valadez and a suffocating defensive effort that didn't require goalkeeper Gabe Standfast to make a single save. The Bullpups wasted no time establishing control, with Manny Morales opening the scoring in the first half before setting up Valadez for the second goal to take a 2-0 lead into halftime.
The floodgates opened in the second half as McPherson's offense exploded for four more goals against the Vikings. Valadez completed his hat trick with two more goals, including one assisted by Beckett Schuckman, who also set up Kevin Garcia for the match's final tally. Jackson Martin joined the scoring parade with the team's fifth goal, assisted by Parker Riemann, as the Bullpups peppered Winfield with 14 shots on goal throughout the match. In junior varsity action, McPherson battled to a 1-1 draw with Winfield, with Paxton Weiser finding the net off an assist from Elliott Schoming to secure the tie.
