The McPherson Bullpups staged a dramatic comeback Friday night, erasing a 21-point deficit to defeat Rose Hill 37-35 in a thrilling back-and-forth contest that came down to the final drive.

Trailing 28-7 late in the second quarter, the Bullpups received a spark when quarterback Carter Bengtson connected with Aaron Winter on a 53-yard touchdown pass just before halftime to cut the deficit to 28-14 heading into the break.

McPherson came out firing in the third quarter as running back Dane Becker found the end zone to begin the comeback. After forcing a three-and-out, Becker scored again to tie the game at 28-28. Kicker Jaxon Hoover then drilled a 20-yard field goal to give the Bullpups their first lead of the night at 31-28.

Rose Hill responded with a 69-yard screen pass for a touchdown to reclaim the lead at 35-31 with just 2:48 remaining, setting up a frantic finish.

Brody Milleson provided the heroics on the ensuing drive, scoring the go-ahead touchdown to put McPherson up 37-35. The Bullpups' defense sealed the victory when Takoda Linn intercepted Rose Hill's final possession to preserve the dramatic comeback win.

The victory improves McPherson to 4-1 on the season and demonstrates the team's resilience in adverse situations. The Bullpups will travel to league foe Mulvane for their final road game of the regular season Friday, October 10 at 7:00 p.m.
