McPherson Public Schools taps Simpson Construction to lead $89.5 million bond projects
Wichita-based firm to serve as construction manager for district-wide upgrades following successful March election
McPHERSON, Kan. — McPherson Public Schools has selected Wichita-based Simpson Construction to manage $89.5 million in facility upgrades approved by voters earlier this year. Serving as construction manager at risk, the family-owned firm will oversee work stemming from the March bond measure, with the goal of delivering improved learning environments while maximizing taxpayer dollars. The project list includes constructing a new academic wing at McPherson High School, expanding career and technology labs, adding secure entrances to elementary schools, and converting Eisenhower Elementary into the district's new middle school.
Simpson Construction will collaborate with the district's architectural partner, Incite Design Studio, from the earliest planning stages to identify cost-saving opportunities and maintain project schedules. Superintendent Cody Rierson praised the firm's financial stewardship and K-12 experience across Kansas, saying early collaboration will ensure the community's investment is well spent. "We're choosing a partner who will help us make thoughtful decisions every step of the way," Rierson said. The selection follows a competitive vetting process. Voters approved the two-part bond initiative in March, backing the $62.5 million first question — described by the district as tax-neutral — with 63.6% approval and the $27 million second question with 60.2% approval.
