The McPherson girls golf team made history Monday, capturing the program's first regional championship with a team score of 326 and punching its ticket to the state tournament for the third time in four years.

Senior Andi Buschbom led the way as regional medalist with a round of 75, while fellow senior Brodie Kuhn finished as runner-up with a 76. The victory comes just one week after the Bullpups claimed the league tournament title.

"I am so proud of this team," said Coach Fawl. "After winning our league tournament last week, we were able to back it up with a Regional Championship—the first one in the program's four-year existence."

The two senior leaders have anchored the Bullpups all season. "Kuhn and Buschbom have been rock solid for us this season," Coach Fawl noted. "They are both All-State players and continue to show it week in and week out."

Freshman Lleyton Kuhn tied for sixth place with an 84, emerging as a consistent scorer throughout her debut season. "Lleyton has come a long way this season," Coach Fawl said. "She continues to improve and be that consistent scorer for us."

Junior Pera Bauer posted a 97 to finish 17th, continuing her strong season as a key contributor despite battling injuries. "I'm really proud of Pera for fighting through some injuries towards the end of this season," Coach Fawl said. "She's been a key part of our team, posting some great scores."

Juniors Amelia Moody and Addie French both achieved personal records at regionals, with Moody tying for 11th with a 91 and French finishing 15th with a 94.

"They both work very hard at their game, and I am excited for them to see some positive results heading into state," Coach Fawl said.

The Bullpups will compete in the state tournament Monday and Tuesday at Carey Park Golf Course in Hutchinson.
