McPherson Girls Golf Captures AVCTL Division 3 & 4 Title
Three Bullpups earn first team all-league honors
The McPherson girls golf team overcame challenging conditions to claim the AVCTL League Division 3 & 4 championship Tuesday, posting a team score of 164 in a tournament reduced to nine holes after overnight flooding closed the front nine. The Bullpups edged Wellington by two strokes (166) while Buhler finished third at 170, with McPherson placing three golfers in the top six to earn first team all-league honors.
Senior Brodie Kuhn led the Bullpups with a second-place finish, carding a 36, while fellow senior Andi Buschbom took third with a 38. Freshman Lleyton Kuhn impressed in her first league championship, tying for fifth with a 41 to round out McPherson's all-league selections. Junior Amelai Moody finished 26th with a 49, while junior Addie French tied for 30th with a 51 and senior Leah Cahoone tied for 41st with a 55. "Overall it was a great day for our team," said coach Fawl. "We would have liked to play the full 18 holes, but mother nature didn't allow. This is a great confidence boost heading into regionals next Monday at Hesston. Having three girls be first team all-league is a great achievement. I am proud of the hard work they have put in and excited for the post season."
