McPherson Cross Country Posts Season Bests at Newton Meet
The McPherson cross country teams delivered strong performances with over half the squad posting season-best times, led by five medalists across both varsity races.
Caleb Muehler paced the boys varsity squad with an individual championship, crossing the finish line in 16:00. Kayden Friesen added a seventh-place medal finish in 17:13 as the Bullpups claimed fourth place as a team. Jonas Emery (26th, 18:49), Nathan Friesen (30th, 19:05), Isaiah Ortiz (45th, 20:07), and Drake Timson (47th, 20:10) rounded out the varsity scoring.
The girls varsity team was led by three medalists, with Adeline Kramer finishing eighth in 21:24, Reesa Whorton claiming 12th in 21:55, and Eliza Jex taking 19th in 22:22. Lindley Jex finished 56th to complete the scoring.
In JV competition, Molly Owen earned sixth place in the girls race with a 24:22 clocking. The JV boys were led by Miles Bauer (51st, 22:32), Tyler Ek (52nd, 22:35), Charlie Unruh (58th, 22:48), John Conard (59th, 22:48), and Maxton Nelson (61st, 23:00).
"We had a solid week of training and it carried over into today's performances," said coach Rempe. "We will look to continue to carry this momentum into the final few weeks of the season."
The Bullpups will look to build on the strong showing as they enter the final stretch of their season.
