Manhattan Street Project to Begin This Week

Manhattan Street Project to Begin This Week

MANHATTAN, Kan. — The City of Manhattan will begin a mill and overlay project on Yuma Street this week, causing temporary road closures and access restrictions.

The project will affect Yuma Street from 4th Street to 10th Street, with moving closures lasting at least one week beginning Sept. 23-26. Access to the Douglass Activity Center will be limited to 10th Street during construction.

City officials are asking drivers to exercise caution in the construction area, obey detour signage and watch for workers.

This project consists of multiple asphalt maintenance areas, including Bluemont Avenue from 4th to 11th streets, College Avenue from Agricultural Road to the north City limits, and Yuma Street from 4th to 10th streets. This maintenance work is primarily being done to replace infrastructure that is experiencing structural decline and has reached the end of its useful life.
