Manhattan fire crews battle two structure fires, rescue dog
MANHATTAN, Kan. — The Manhattan Fire Department responded to two structure fires in recent days, with no injuries reported in either incident.
Firefighters responded to a residence at 326 Vattier Street on Oct. 19 at approximately 9:26 p.m. Upon arrival, fire was showing from the front of the home. Crews quickly searched the structure and extinguished the blaze. The occupants of the home were displaced, according to a statement from the Manhattan Fire Department.
In a second incident Tuesday night, companies responded to 1420 Hillcrest Drive, where flames and smoke were visible upon arrival. Firefighters conducted an aggressive interior attack and search of the residence, which resulted in the rescue of one dog. No injuries were reported at that location.
Both fires have been documented by the Manhattan Fire Department on its official Facebook page. The cause of either fire has not been disclosed.
