Man seriously injured in Manhattan shooting

MANHATTAN, Kan. — A 35-year-old man was hospitalized with serious injuries after being shot multiple times Saturday afternoon in a northeast Manhattan neighborhood, authorities said.

Riley County Police officers responded to reports of shots fired in the 1300 block of Marlatt Avenue near the Country Meadow Apartments complex at approximately 1:53 p.m. Oct. 11, according to a department news release.

Officers found the victim suffering from multiple apparent gunshot wounds and immediately rendered first aid until emergency medical personnel arrived. The man was transported to Stormont-Vail Hospital in Topeka for treatment of serious injuries.

Police did not release the victim's identity or information about any potential suspects. The department said the investigation remains active and more details will be released as they become available.

The Riley County Police Department asked residents to avoid the area while officers secured the scene Saturday afternoon.
