Local Lumberyard Continues Under New Ownership as McPherson Lumber Company

After more than four decades serving the McPherson community, Jantz Lumber has new owners as Mason and Jessica Fleming have taken the reins of the local lumberyard, which will now operate as McPherson Lumber. The Flemings, who have four children and enjoy farming and traveling, said they were motivated to purchase the business to ensure the community maintains a local source for lumber and building supplies.

"We wanted to see the local lumberyard stay in business," Jessica Fleming said. "McPherson is an industrious town with both those with deep roots and younger generations coming in that continue to build on the legacy of a very strong small business atmosphere. Contractors and others love to support local, given the opportunity, and we want to provide them with needed lumber, tools, and other supplies right here in town." The new owners have already begun implementing changes, expanding their Milwaukee, DeWalt, lawn and garden, Griprite by PrimeSource, and Johnson levels sections while maintaining the core services that made Jantz Lumber a community staple for over 40 years.

The Flemings expressed gratitude for the Jantz family's support during the transition, noting their instrumental role in getting the yard back open and sharing valuable knowledge about the business. While keeping the foundations of the business intact, McPherson Lumber will continue serving local contractors, businesses, and weekend warriors with both traditional offerings and new product lines. "We are excited for this venture and the opportunities it will allow for the tradition of Jantz Lumber to continue, while adding new partnerships as McPherson Lumber gets up and going," Fleming said.
