The Lady Express 18's softball team captured the championship at the Battle Of The Plains tournament in Hays this weekend, sweeping through the competition with a perfect 6-0 record against a strong 13-team field featuring squads from Colorado, Nebraska, Oklahoma, and Kansas. The team's dominant performance showcased the exceptional talent drawn from across central Kansas, including three standout players from McPherson's 4A state championship team—Jasmyn Evans, Ava Romero, and Brooke Doile—who helped power the Express to victory.

Under the guidance of coaches Kim Romero and Christy Doile, the Lady Express demonstrated the strength of regional cooperation, bringing together elite players from multiple school districts to compete at the highest level. The championship roster also featured Addyson Gillett and Rylee Benien from Bennington, Taelor Hardesty, Gabriele Norris, and Isabelle Porter from ElSaline, Katie Wagner from Salina Central, Kenzley Haxton from Smokey Valley, and Katie Klein from Hays.
