Kitchen fire damages Buhler home, no injuries reported

BUHLER, Kan. — Multiple fire departments extinguished a house fire Sunday evening in the 400 block of Prairie Park.

Reno County Fire District No. 1 Stations 50, 91 and 81, along with a tender and engine from the Hutchinson Fire Department, responded to the blaze at 7:41 p.m. Feb. 2.

Crews arrived to find smoke and flames coming from a kitchen window. Fire attack teams entered the home and quickly knocked down the fire, containing it to the kitchen, according to Reno County Fire Administrator Travis Vogt. Heat and smoke caused damage throughout the rest of the residence.

No one was home at the time. Alert neighbors reported the fire.

No civilian or firefighter injuries were reported. Reno County EMS provided rehabilitation services for fire crews. The Buhler Police Department and Reno County Sheriff's deputies assisted with traffic control.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
