KDOT to Begin US-50 Reconstruction in Reno County

RENO COUNTY, Kan. — The Kansas Department of Transportation will begin reconstructing a 1.5-mile stretch of U.S. 50 in Reno County on Monday, Feb. 16, weather permitting.

The project will run from 5.5 miles east of the east U.S. 50/K-61 interchange near Brandy Lake Road east to South Buhler/Haven Road.

Work is scheduled Monday, Feb. 16, through Friday, Feb. 20, during daylight hours. One lane of traffic will remain open in each direction through summer 2026, when traffic signals will be installed to guide motorists through the work zone until project completion.

Pearson Construction of Wichita is the prime contractor for the $3.4 million project, which is expected to be finished in spring 2027.

KDOT urges drivers to stay alert and obey all posted signs in work zones.
