KDOT schedules open houses for U.S. 24 corridor plan

MANHATTAN, Kan. — Residents and commuters in Riley and Pottawatomie counties will have a chance to review future traffic and safety plans for a major local highway at two upcoming open houses.
The Kansas Department of Transportation is hosting the events to present information regarding the U.S. 24 Corridor Management Plan. The comprehensive plan is designed to guide future development, manage traffic flow and improve driver safety along the busy highway stretching across the two counties.

The first open house is set for Monday, June 22, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Wamego Senior & Community Center, 501 Ash St. in Wamego. The second will be held Tuesday, June 23, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at CiCo Park's Pottorf Hall, 1710 Avery Ave. in Manhattan. Both sessions will present the same information, and attendees may come and go at any time.

State transportation officials will be available at both open houses to walk the public through the proposed management strategies and answer questions from the community.

Materials will also be posted to the project website June 22, and the public can submit comments through July 8 at ksdot.gov/US24-Riley-Pott.
