Campus Road Closure Scheduled for Elevator Replacement
A portion of Claflin Road at Kansas State University will close on Oct. 25 from the Denison Avenue intersection eastward to the pathway in front of Gen. Richard B. Myers Hall. The south sidewalk behind Ackert Hall and Chalmers Hall also will be closed for the day. Pedestrians and drivers have been advised to follow designated detours and exercise caution, as the closure will accommodate the delivery, placement and removal of a large crane needed to remove an elevator in Ackert Hall.

K-State Professor Dedicates Research to Kansas Groundwater Quality
Matthew Kirk, a University Outstanding Scholar and fellow of the Geological Society of America, has made groundwater research and education a cornerstone of his work at K-State. Kirk's Kansas Groundwater Geopaths Project, funded by the National Science Foundation, has involved nearly 60 students from K-State and community colleges while helping more than 200 rural Kansas households learn about their water quality. Kirk said groundwater is the water source for 75% of Kansans and plans to create opportunities for students to develop careers managing this vital resource. The program will be expanded next year to include a Vertically Integrated Program with formal course offerings.
