Kansas modular builder doubles capacity with new Hutchinson lease

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — National Modular MFG LLC has signed a long-term lease for a 57,600-square-foot facility in Hutchinson's Kansas Enterprise Industrial Park, doubling the size of its Kansas manufacturing operations.

The Haven-based company, which also operates in Providence, N.C., manufactures modular units for national brands including 7 Brew Coffee. The expansion is expected to allow National Modular to produce a minimum of 200 units this year, up from 138 drive-thru buildings completed in 2025.

Salt City Investments, a partnership of local investors, built the speculative industrial building in anticipation of demand. The Greater Hutch Economic Development Partnership supported the deal by advocating for property tax exemptions and job creation incentives.

A company representative said the lease allowed for immediate expansion because the building was move-in ready, citing strong support from city and county leaders since National Modular established its Haven operations more than five years ago.

National Modular distinguishes itself by using welded steel frames engineered to meet snow load, wind load and seismic zone requirements across the United States and Canada. The company also builds and delivers complete drive-thru canopy systems, a capability it says sets it apart from most modular manufacturers.

Reno County Commission Chair Ron Hirst and Hutchinson Mayor Scott Meggers both expressed support for the expansion, with Meggers calling National Modular a "homegrown company" continuing to invest in the region.
