Intersection at 21st Street and Topeka Boulevard reopens as roadwork advances
Construction crews shift to southbound lanes between Shunga Bridge and 19th Street
TOPEKA, Kan. — Drivers can once again navigate the intersection of 21st Street and Southwest Topeka Boulevard in all directions as a nearly $8 million infrastructure project advances to its next phase. Construction crews shifted lanes last week to focus on the southbound stretch of Topeka Boulevard between the Shunga Bridge and 19th Street, while also finishing adjacent sidewalk improvements. The ongoing lane closures are part of a roadway and utility reconstruction effort that began last fall to rebuild the corridor and replace aging water lines, with completion slated for winter 2026.
