Hutchinson Zoo celebrates 10th annual holiday light show

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The Hutchinson Zoo will illuminate Carey Park for its 10th annual Nights Before Christmas holiday light show, offering families festive entertainment across six evenings in December.

The event runs Dec. 12-13, Dec. 19-20 and Dec. 26-27 at the zoo's location at 6 Emerson Loop East. Gates open for evening viewing of the light displays.

Admission costs $10 per person and includes access to the light show, complimentary hot cocoa and holiday cookies, photo opportunities with Santa Claus and a ride on the Prairie Thunder railroad. The Dec. 26-27 dates are billed as an encore presentation.

Zoo officials said the annual tradition has become a popular regional attraction, drawing families seeking seasonal activities. The event features illuminated displays throughout the zoo grounds and interactive elements for children.

Santa Claus and reindeer displays will be available for photographs during the show nights. The Prairie Thunder railroad will operate as part of the admission package, weather permitting.

Tickets are available for purchase at the zoo. The venue is open to the public, and organizers encourage advance planning for popular weekend dates.
